The goal of this website is to support the victims of the Darfur Conflict.
DarfurDarfur is a region of western Sudan at the border of the Central African Republic, Lybia and Chad. The region is divided into three federal states. Those three states are West Darfur, South Darfur and West Darfur.
The conflict started in March 2003 when the SLA (Sudan Liberatin Army) and JEM (Justice and Equality Movement) started attacking government forces in the western regions of Sudan.
Those attacks were to denounce the current government of President Omar Al-Bashir. His government was said to neglect the region and to oppress black Africans in favour of Arabs in Darfur.
The government responded by a campaign of aerial bombardment along with ground attacks by the Janjaweed, an Arab militia.
As of now, the United Nations (UN) estimates that as many as 450,000 persons have been killed in this conflict. Most estimates from non-governmental organizations are 200,000 to 400,000 people killed.

The crisis is not only about people being killed but also about refugees. As many as 2.5 million people are thought to have been displaced.

Finally, the conflict is also spreading to Chad and the Central African Republic.
